Ken Hatley Photography is a full service, one stop shop for all your photographic needs. From newborns to seniors, families, weddings, architecture stills to sports...we have you covered. In the last year our sports division has taken a front seat and ice hockey is our main focus and KHp is the official photographer for almost all major hockey tournaments in the DFW area. We are the official photographers for a number of travel organizations and high schools including coverage of the Dallas Stars Selects, DJHA Penguins, Grapevine Wolves, Dallas Oilers, Frisco, Colleyville Heritage, Coppell, Bishop Lynch, McKinney and that list is continually growing. Our style is very different than anyone else in town. We capture portraits that parents love with a style that the kids even look forward to on picture day.

Ken Hatley

Ken Hatley is married to Janice they have three kids, Johnathan 17, Trevor 7, and Devon 4. Ken's love of photography started very young when he took over the family Polaroid Instamatic at age 7! He got his first SLR camera in 1988 and was trained to shoot black and white film and also learned his way around a dark room. He turned to feature film and went to college at the University of North Texas pursuing a degree in Radio/TV/Film wanting to be a feature film Director of Photography.

He moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film but returned to Texas a year later and found himself in sales for a computer training company. Shortly thereafter his interest turned towards computers and put himself through a computer certification program at SMU. It wasn't until digital started to become popular that he got back into photography about 11 years ago. With digital, it was a combination of instant gratification and digital manipulation that reignited his photographic journey.

Wedding Day morning was very quiet, the groomsmen went fishing and bridesmaids went for mud baths. There was no room for me at either so I just hung out at the pool and took some snapshots and captured some details of the resort.

I was going back and forth between villas while everyone was getting ready, trying to keep the bride and groom from seeing each other while trying to get some of the formals done! I knew we were going to be short on time! The plan was 4:00 wedding, over at 4:20 and formals done by 4:40 for a 20 minute drive to a remote beach for wedding party photos, all before we lost the sun! I have to admit…I didn’t think we were going to have time…

Girls were calm and relaxed after their baths and the guys were bouncing off the walls taking shots of Mezcal! Everyone was actually ready early and we knocked out the bridals and most the formals before 4.

The actual ceremony was only 10 minutes so timing was perfect to get the beach in time.

This is my favorite shot of the wedding day!

I loved this bar on our way to the beach, unfortunately the seats didn’t move and there were people at the bar so we only had a second to get the shot!
