KHp covers a number of hockey organizations and high school teams in the DFW area. We are not the typical high volume sports photographers and strive to create high quality portraits that you will proudly hang on your walls!
We treat every session like a studio portrait session. We use large softboxes with the highest quality light and camera equipment and hand correct and enhance every portrait to look its best.
We are also a hockey family and understand the importance of ice time and utilize only a few minutes of your valuable ice during our sessions.
Session Information
In a typical T&I session, we will set up about 45 minutes prior to the start of your practice and will complete your individuals as each skater comes out of the locker room. (please do not schedule dryland until after ice time on photo day.) After the individuals are complete, and the Zamboni is off the ice, we will move the lights onto the ice for a group photo and are off the ice within a few minutes.
Players should wear matching game jerseys and socks and should bring their completed forms and payment. Click this link to download our latest order form.
Each of our packages come with a memory mate or “Combo” which is a unique composite of our Base Pose individual photo, the on ice Team Photo, along with a Custom Team Logo and personalized text which includes the player’s name and team information.

Base Pose
The base pose is generally a waist up shot with the player holding the stick vertically with both hands, one hand on top and the other framing their logo on the front of their jersey. The base pose can be altered as long as it is a team decision, otherwise it will look similar to the examples below. We strive to create a natural looking smile with this pose and basic enhancements are included with all packages.
Every print from KHp includes enhancements to eyes, teeth and skin!
Creative 2nd Pose Packages
The second pose is shot with all A and B packages. We no longer shoot the 2nd pose for all players, due to the amount of time it takes for multiple poses, but we spend a little extra time with those that order the 2nd pose packages. This shot is typically with an intimidating stare, lots of shadows and converted to black and white, and usually shot with their stick behind the back, sometimes with the helmet on but this pose can be customized on the day of the shoot. We encourage parent involvement with this pose so if you see something in our previous sessions that you like…please be at the shoot and help us capture exactly what you are looking for! These packages also include uploading the photos to Facebook for tagging and profile use.
Web optimized digital files
All our second pose packages come with low resolution digital files that are posted on Facebook or can be emailed upon request. These files are for sharing electronically on Facebook, email, digital photo frames, phones and tablets but should not be printed or altered an any way. They have our logo in the bottom corner and that logo should remain on the photo at all times. We will move or remove the logo in certain circumstances upon request.
Custom Graphics and Captures
We love to create custom works of art and can design team/organization marketing posters and schedules, player collages, end-of-the-season player and coach gifts, Senior night coverage and we are available for individual and private game coverage.
Add-ons and Enlargements
We have had numerous requests for Canvas Wraps and larger prints so we are making it a little easier and offering some premium products on our order form. We will have samples of a gallery wrap canvas, fine art mounted canvas and frame-less foam mounts at each session. We will also have some of our add-on products for you to view. We offer pretty much every trinket and photo gadget that everyone else offers but we only present items that we feel are good quality and will actually get used! If you are looking for something specific that we do not offer please let us know and we can probably get it for you. We also rotate our products that do not get ordered and will continually change our offerings each season.
Quality
We use only the best Canon professional photography equipment along with Profoto lighting and large softboxes to capture the best portraits. Check out our equipment bag! We print at a professional lab on Archive Quality Metallic Paper so your portraits will last a lifetime!
